How we started
Green Wheels was born from a heartfelt desire to connect our vibrant Vermont community with vital resources. In a small town nestled among the Green Mountains, our founders, driven by the spirit of neighborly support, noticed a disheartening trend: many local residents were eligible for assistance programs like 3SquaresVT and Vermont Medicaid but remained unenrolled. This realization sparked the idea to create a vehicle-donation program that would not only provide funding for outreach efforts but also foster a sense of community.
In early 2020, Green Wheels took its first steps, encouraging Vermonters to donate their old cars. The donations transformed into financial support, allowing us to offer a free benefits-research service for those who need it most. We are deeply rooted in our mission to ensure that every eligible neighbor knows about and can access the programs that empower them.
Our mission
At Green Wheels, our mission is to bridge the gap between Vermont's residents and essential benefits programs. By facilitating vehicle donations, we create a sustainable funding model that enables us to provide free research services to locals. We connect our community to valuable resources like WIC, Fuel Assistance, Reach Up, and healthcare options through Vermont Medicaid. Our goal is to ensure that no one in our beautiful state is left behind.

Why this city
Vermont is a state defined by its lush landscapes and close-knit communities, yet a significant number of residents in areas like Burlington and Stowe face barriers to accessing crucial benefits. Our neighborhoods often struggle with hidden challenges, with many eligible families unaware of resources available through programs like Reach Up and WIC. As we strive to close these enrollment gaps, we focus on reaching out to our fellow Vermonters, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive amidst the beauty of our state.
If you have a vehicle you no longer need, consider donating it to Green Wheels. Your contribution will directly help us connect more Vermonters with vital benefits programs. Together, we can strengthen our community and ensure that every neighbor has the support they need to flourish.
